An operator can create different types of certificate using Virtual ID that are allowed in the service plan.


All the certificate requests related to a Virtual ID user will be listed here. 


Once you have created a Virtual ID, follow the steps below to create a certificate request:


  1. To create a certificate request, click  icon on top right.



  1. The Certificate Type drop down will appear with multiple profiles that are configured in the service plan (admin portal). Select a certification profile from the list and click Create. 



  1. A Welcome Note screen will appear, if configured in the Enterprise request notes. 




The welcome note will appear, select the checkbox 'I allow the use of my data for processing certificate application by Enterprise Name' and click next. (This screen will appear if operator has customised request notes in the enterprise the user belongs to.)


  1. The Subject Distinguished Name (SDN) screen will be displayed.



  1. The Certificate Validity screen will be displayed. The validity period will appear in a disabled form. Click 'Generate' to proceed. 



  1. The subscriber agreement confirmation will appear. Click "Yes" to proceed. 



  1. A certificate will be generated and you can find it in your download folder on your computer. 



Second Factor Authentication 


If second factor authentication is enabled on certificate requests, the configured authentication mechanism will function accordingly. When a user clicks on the Generate button, the authentication window will appear, and once it accepts the selected method, it will generate a certificate. 


The authentication mechanism can be one of the following:


  • SMS OTP Authentication 
  • Email OTP Authentication 
  • Email & SMS Authentication
  • SAML Authentication 
  • Active Directory Authentication 
  • Azure Active Directory Authentication
  • OIDC Authentication


Request Notes


If an operator has added customized request notes in certificate requests pertaining to a specific enterprise, they will appear in all types of certificates requests i.e. issued, rekey, revoked, renewed and reissued certificate requests. The request notes will appear on the steppers only against which the operator has customised them. 


An operator can configure it from the Enterprise Request Notes section in the admin portal.


Dual Control


Email notification will be sent to RA (Registration Authority) for request approval in case of dual control. 

Submitted request will be available in Virtual ID> Certificate Requests with Pending status, or will be in Approved status if no vetting is required by Enterprise RAO.




1) Certificate will be generated on approval of request. An email and on-screen notification will be received to user on approval.

2) An optional message can be added while approving a certificate request, which later also shows under email notification body against certificate approval email. For auto approval this option doesn't show, whereas in case of dual control the message only receives to user once the second reviewer approves a certificate request.
