Managing Backups
As services provided by ADSS Server may be required 24 x 7, backup and recovery are key issues. Implementing backup and recovery procedures enable you to recover from a failure with minimal loss of time or information.
The database used by the ADSS Server should be backed up regularly especially because it contains the actual information (configurations, keys, certificates, logs etc). Administrators should take differential backups of the ADSS database every day and then a full database backup every week during off-peak times.
To prevent excessive growth of the disk space utilised for ADSS transaction logs, it is also important to regularly archive old transaction data that is still stored in the ADSS Server database.
For details about how to take regular backups of the database and how to restore these backups consult the corresponding DBMS product documentation.
The ADSS Server administrator should also perform a regular review of the disk space on the system where ADSS Server is running - refer to Managing Disk Space for details.
The ADSS Server configurations can be backed-up using the export functionality provided in Global Settings, as described here.
